A week ago we were privileged to see a fine young man receive the Aaronic priesthood.
Traditionally, the Bishop will call up a young man and explain to the the congregation how he has interviewed and found the particular young man to be worthy of the ordination of the Aaronic priesthood. For some reason this recognition and the recognition of his Primary achievements were neglected. Instead, Ben was asked to share a favorite scripture. Ben walked to the front with purpose. He opened his scriptures and humbly, yet confidently shared 11th article of Faith; “We claim the privilege of worshiping Almighty God according to the dictates of our own conscience, and allow all men the same privilege, let them worship how, where, or what they may.” I think it was clear to everyone the Ben has great promise and a good heart!
Ben asked his stepfather to ordain him to the priesthood. It wonderful to see the love and humility between them. It was a beautiful ordination and blessing.
Way to go Ben! Thanks for being such a great example!
